Philanthropy

The brothers of Omega Phi Kappa have always prided ourselves on the commitment to our philanthropy: continuing education in the inner city school systems. Continuing education is Omega Phi Kappa’s main philanthropy and we use this ideal as the basis for most of the community service we perform in the neighborhoods in which we are present. Because OPK  began as a local fraternal organization the brothers have a very unique ability to build a relationship with the local community and become entrenched within their school systems.

Our commitment to continuing education can be easily seen in the various ways in which OPK has become involved with elementary, middle, and high schools in the neighboring communities. One of the main vehicles with which we drive education in schools is through our mentoring of young school children. The organization feels that education is best progressed when we can reach children at an early age. If children are given a great role model who can exemplify the good things that come with education, that child’s life will be completely changed.

Our philanthropy stems from problems our founders saw in the education system of inner schools. Our founders saw that these children were not being given proper leadership and mentoring and that OPK had an adherent responsibility to help these kids realize their true ability. We accomplish our educational goals through many community services activities in the local neighborhoods where Omega Phi Kappa is present. These activities include, read aloud sessions with young children, mentoring programs, and high school tours.
